1. TAYLOR SWIFT

Swift is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, with over 200 million albums sold worldwide. Eight of her songs have charted on the Billboard Hot 100, and her concert tours are among the most successful in history. She has won 11 Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, 34 American Music Awards (the most for an artist), 29 Billboard Music Awards (the most for a woman), and 58 Guinness World Records, among other honors. She has been listed in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time (2015), Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists (2019), Time 100, and Forbes Celebrity 100. Billboard named her Woman of the Decade in the 2010s and the American Music Awards named her Artist of the Decade in the 2010s.

Swift has been hailed as a pop legend for her groundbreaking career, philanthropy, and promotion of artists' rights and women's empowerment in the music industry. She was named Woman of the 2010s Decade by Billboard and Artist of the 2010s Decade by the American Music Awards.

We all know Taylor’s a very popular artist, and Sabancı students agreed to that as well. Their favorite albums & songs from Taylor differed a lot, ranging in a variety of genres from Pop albums such as Reputation to folk albums such as folklore and evermore.

Each student’s favorite genre was different, however, they found their own unique connection to Taylor’s in many of her songs.

2. THE WEEKEND

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd is a singer-songwriter and record producer. Abel’s music explores escapism, romanticism, and melancholy, and is typically influenced by personal experiences. He is known for his sonic versatility and dark lyricism. Four Grammy Awards, 19 Billboard Music Awards, 15 Juno Awards, six American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and an Academy Award nomination are among his many honors. Tesfaye is one of the best-selling musicians in the world, with over 75 million albums sold and multiple streaming and Billboard chart records. He is the first artist to debut in the top three on both Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs concurrently, and his song "Blinding Lights" is the longest-charting song in Billboard history.

There were favorites from both new and old albums from Abel, these included: Starboy, After Hours, and Dawn Fm.

3. RADIOHEAD

Radiohead is an English rock band founded in 1985 in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Jonny and Colin Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backup vocals), and Philip Selway (bass) make up the band (drums, percussion). Since 1994, they've collaborated with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood. The experimental approach of Radiohead is regarded with helping to advance the sound of alternative rock.

Radiohead's albums had sold more than 30 million copies globally as of 2011. Six Grammy Awards and four Ivor Novello Awards have been bestowed upon them. "Creep" (1992), "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" (1996), "Paranoid Android" (1997), "Karma Police" (1997), "No Surprises" (1998), "Pyramid Song" (2001), and "There There" (2001) are the seven Radiohead singles to reach the top ten on the UK Singles Chart (2003). "Creep" and "Nude" (2008) both charted in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. Radiohead was designated one of the 100 greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone, and they were selected the second-best artist of the 2000s by Rolling Stone readers. Five of Radiohead's albums have been named on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time lists, and the band has received the most Mercury Prize nominations, with five. In the year 2019, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The most liked albums from Radiohead by the Sabancı University students were “OK Computer”, "A Moon Shaped Pool" and "Pablo Honey".

4. ERIC CLAPTON

Eric Patrick Clapton, an English rock and blues guitarist, singer, and composer, was born on March 30, 1945. He is widely considered as one of the most influential guitarists of all time. Clapton was named second on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list and fourth on Gibson's "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time" list. In 2009, he was ranked fifth on Time magazine's list of "The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players."

Clapton has 18 Grammy Awards and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music to his name. He was given a CBE for contributions to music in 2004. The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors has honored him with four Ivor Novello Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the only member of the Yardbirds and Cream to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame three times: once as a solo artist and twice as a member of the Yardbirds and Cream. Clapton has sold over 280 million records worldwide during his solo career, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Clapton, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, created the Crossroads Centre on Antigua in 1998.

5. MITSKI

Mitski Miyawaki is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter who was born Mitsuki Laycock on September 27, 1990. While attending Purchase College's Conservatory of Music, Mitski self-released her first two albums, Lush (2012) and Retired from Sad, New Career in Business (2013). Bury Me at Makeout Creek (2014), her third studio album, was released by Double Double Whammy after she graduated. In 2015, she signed with Dead Oceans, releasing the critically praised albums Puberty 2 (2016), Be the Cowboy (2018), and Laurel Hell (2022), the latter of which charted in the top ten in multiple markets. She was named the "best young songwriter" in the United States by The Guardian.

Mitski's favorited albums included "Be the Cowboy", "Lush" and "Puberty 2".
